Overview
ÖFSE operates Austria's most comprehensive specialised academic library and information center for development studies and development policy issues, current developments in the countries of the South and in particular Austrian development cooperation with Austria's priority and cooperation countries.
Since September 2009, ÖFSE is running the C3 library for Development Policy together with Frauensolidarität and Medienstelle BAOBAB. The C3 library for Development Policy is the largest scientific and pedagogical library in Austria on international development, women and gender as well as global education. The C3 library is open to the public and aims at providing room for knowledge, education, information and encounter.
Online catalogue
The library is open to the public (open access library).
Reading rooms, workstations, photocopiers, online catalogues and card indexes as well as internet access are available to visitors.
ÖFSE is a member of the Austrian Library Network.
A search of the overall catalogue of the network enables the user to retrieve the holdings – at the moment for ÖFSE holdings from 2005 onwards only – of more than 68 libraries that are part of the network. Member libraries include the Austrian National Library, libraries of universities and university departments, various libraries of public authorities and government agencies, and many more.
International and National Library Cooperations
The library of ÖFSE has been a member of the Information Alliance for Development Policy (Informationsverbund Entwicklungspolitik/IVEP), an association of German-speaking libraries and documentation centres, for more than 30 years. IVEP currently has 14 member institutions from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Besides the exchange of information their joint working bases include the Thesaurus on Economic and Social Development (Thesaurus für wirtschaftliche und soziale Entwicklung/TWSE).
