In this handbook the Austrian Research Foundation for International Development lists addresses and information of relevance for potential users about all libraries in Austria whose holdings include books on development cooperation, North-South relations, and global developments. Apart from an assessment of the perspectives of the libraries and media centres for development policy education and research established in Austria, this collection of information also contains the addresses and websites of 159 journals and newsletters that are published by Austrian development education institutions, relief organisations, and groups active in the field of solidarity work with developing countries.

“Literature and Periodicals on Development Policy in Austria” was published in April 2008 as volume 2 of the ÖFSE series Austrian Development Cooperation. It is available for EUR 20.

Under the heading of “development education in Austria” this publication describes measures of development cooperation that are taken in Austria in the fields of information as well as general an intercultural education. These activities also include public relations, science and research as well as public support. In addition, campaigns and programmes relating to topics such as fair trade or tourism are treated.

The publication's second part focuses on a synopsis of public and private measures of development education and provides an overview of historical and current developments. Numerous charts provide an insight in organisational and financial developments.

Finally, the publication also contains impulses from experts for further progress of development education in Austria.
