With negotiations on TTIP – the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership – intensifying, EU trade policy has become a hotly contested issue. While supporters praise its economic benefits, critics denounce it as a threat to democracy. The conference will discuss pivotal issues such as: What is the new EU trade politics really about? What are its political, economic and social impacts upon citizens and societies? What will be its international implications, in particular for the developing world?
