Opening Panel The Future of Trade in a Polarised World Order
At the beginning of the "Future of Trade in a Polarised World Order" conference, we invite you to the public opening event on Friday, June 23rd, at 5 PM at C3.
After more than 30 years of neoliberal globalization, we are witnessing a poly-crisis characterized by increasing social inequality, a dramatically escalating climate crisis, and a crisis of multilateral cooperation in the face of threatening geopolitical disruptions. What kind of trade and economic cooperation will be needed in the future? What can science and civil society jointly contribute here? The conference aims to create a transdisciplinary space for discussion in order to develop a progressive agenda for international economic cooperation.
To kick off the conference, we will be discussing current daily political challenges in global trade policy with participants including Luciana Ghiotto (UNSAM/TNI), Sandra Polaski (Boston University, former Deputy Director-General of the ILO and ILO Sherpa to the G20) and Jürgen Knirsch (former Greenpeace campaigner on trade and environment issues).
