DEAL with it! – European Youth engages for a green future

Public summit on EU policy making for a sustainable future for all

Climate change and the sustainability crisis are existential threats for Europe and the World. We need an ecological and social turnaround! With the European Green Deal the EU member states are committed to turning the EU into a climate neutral continent by 2050 and to implement the Agenda 2030 and its 17 Goals for Sustainable Development. However, to bring these concepts into action politicians need to listen to youth voices.

At a public summit young people from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Hungary have the opportunity to present and further discuss their point of view on the current situation we are facing with the climate crisis. During the previous events they reflected on relevant issues and political processes. They formulated demands that political representatives should have in mind to create a sustainable and inclusive future for all. With creative and participatory methods, they elaborated a Youth Declaration. To raise awareness and to guarantee the deserved recognition, the students hand over their Youth Declaration to EU politicians, National political representatives and the public in the course of a summit within the Czech EU presidency in Brno on 14th Oct 2022.

The public summit is part of the project DEAL with it! co-funded by the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Union.
