The Brussels Office of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour (AK EUROPA) and the Austrian Foundation for Development Research (ÖFSE), cordially invite you to the event „Progressive Industrial Policy for the Twin Transformation“.

Against the backdrop of the mounting geopolitical rivalries, concerns about economic security and a lack of competitiveness with regard to digital technologies, industrial policy has once again become popular in European policy-making. While initially motivated by the desire to promote the green transition and increase economic resilience, more recently the focus has shifted to security-related concerns, particularly with respect to high-tech and military technologies.

In an upcoming Social Europe Dossier, a group of industrial policy and innovation scholars (i) provides an overview of the current challenges facing EU industrial policy, (ii) points to conceptual and practical deficits of the prevailing approach to industrial policy, particularly with regard to governance issues, and (iii) offers a vision for EU industrial policy based on social inclusion and effective governance.
