Young voices shaping EU climate policy
Public Presentation of the Youth Declaration Deal with it!
Climate change and the sustainability crisis are existential threats for Europe and the World. We need an ecological and social turnaround! With the Green Deal the EU member states are committed to turning the EU into a climate neutral continent by 2050 and to implement the Agenda 2030 and its 17 Goals for Sustainable Development. However, to bring these concepts into action politicians need to listen to the youth’ voices.
Therefore, the Europe for Citizens project DEAL with it! gives the floor to the youth. In the project, students from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Hungary elaborate a Youth Declaration for a sustainable EU climate policy. The transposition of their burning demands is facilitated by Graphic Recording. In the evening of the 24th, the students share and discuss their visualised declaration with the public and representatives of climate and education policy Petra Völkl (Federal Ministry of Climate Action), Astrid Rössler (Green Party) and Michaela Ehgartner-Smolka (Department of Education Vienna)
